Hockey sticks

Hockey sticks are meant to act as an extension of the arm of a hockey player. They may be constructed from wood or a variety of composites. The blade is usually created from wood, regardless of the construction materials used for the shaft.

Wooden hockey sticks are more traditional than the other styles. These can be altered to better suit the needs of a particular player. Customization is generally achieved by cutting the length of a stick or sanding its edges.

Composite hockey sticks are made from many different materials. Examples include Kevlar, aluminum, graphite, fiberglass, and titanium. All of these materials are generally lighter than wood. However, they also tend to be more expensive.
