Hockey equipment FAQs

Why do people tape their hockey sticks?

Taping a hockey stick will aid both in its preservation as well as in game play. Many places for playing hockey may require that sticks are taped. Taping the handle will improve grip while friction tape on the blade improves puck-handling and decreases water damage.

What is a blocker?

A blocker is piece of goaltending ice hockey equipment. It is rectangular and normally worn on the goalie’s dominant hand. Blockers are generally manufactured for right-handed players.

What are the differences between a regular hockey stick and a goalie hockey stick?

The lower part of a goaltender’s hockey stick is wider. Regular sticks have more of an angle between the blade and the ground. In addition to these differences, the goalie stick is curved toward the direction of play.
